This past week in Independent Study and Mentorship I heard back from a professional I connected with that is in cinematography field who is willing to do an interview with me. This is a big step towards gaining a mentor.
I also read an article by the Maine Film Association about shot lists and how they are helpful in the Pre-Production process. I learned that shot lists are spreadsheets about each scene and how it should be filmed before the end of production. I also learned that the shot list spreadsheets are mandatory before the filming process. Throughout the article I also learned some new terminology that I believe my mentor will expect me to know. I learned that a logline is a synopsis of the entire film with its conflict to evoke interest in the film that is used mostly for trailers of the movie. With this new knowledge I will be able to understand my mentor better and will implement it during my mentorship when needed.
For the next coming week I hope to have my interview done with and have another interview scheduled for before October 11th. I am also hoping to learn more about the planning done by the director before the filming process.
