During this past week in Independent Study and Mentorship, I read an article about how to create a cohesive story that does not leave loose ends. It was an article by Lewis University, which is a school mainly for writing and literature majors, they explain the importance of how to make an interesting and cohesive story. This was helpful for me because I am finishing up my script and I need to make sure that my script is easy to follow before I begin to film. The writer goes into the importance of the theme, plot, characters, conflict, setting, point of view, and style and how they pertain to the development of the story. Something that this article really helped me with was the conflict because in my short film I did not have a conclusion to the conflict, so after reading this article I found a way to bring the conflict full circle. I decided that adding another character would be the best way to conclude the conflict and the short film.
This next week of Independent Study and Mentorship I am looking forward to the Research Showcase because last week it was postponed due to the weather conditions. Something else I am also looking forward to starting is filming my short film this coming week.
