This past week in Independent Study and Mentorship I reflected over my most recent research interview and pondered about what the main points of my interview were. Some highlights from the interview was when he explained one of his films from a recent film festival. The film was titled “Wheels” a brief description of it would be that it is about Kenn Madruga a race car builder with MS who still pursues his dream of building cars even though he is unable to drive the cars he builds. I also emailed a few more professionals awaiting their response and hoping to gain more interviews.
Something exciting I learned was that I would be able to shadow cinematographers on video shoots and maybe even help them with something in the shoot. With the information I learned about how to gain opportunities to practice my skills and learn new skills I will continue to network with other professionals to see if I can intern or just shadow some shoots. I also learned something that was unexpected was that almost every college or university has a videography course that is in depth about skills and networking. I did not expect this because I thought videography courses were only available in fine arts colleges/universities.
